The active substance of Proviron – mesterolone, compensates for the lack of endogenous androgens due to a decrease in their production with age or for other reasons. Administration of the recommended therapeutic doses of the drug has the following effect on the male organism: eliminates or alleviates the following effects on the male organism: poor performance, irritability, fatigue, rapid fatigue, impaired memory and concentration, libido disorders, depression, sleep disorders, psycho-vegetative disorders caused by deficiency of male sex hormones; eliminates potency disorders caused by androgen deficiency; if erectile dysfunction is caused by other reasons, Proviron is recommended to eliminate androgen deficiency.

Pharmacokinetics absorption: up to 98% of the substance binds to serum proteins, of which up to 40% to albumin and up to 58% to sex steroid binding globulin (SSBG); metabolism: Nesterolone is metabolised rapidly, with a serum clearance of 4.4 ± 1.6 ml×min-1×kg-1; the major metabolite is 1α-methyl-androsterone, the other metabolite (accounting for about 3% of the metabolites excreted by the kidneys) is 1α-methyl-5α-androstane-3α,17β-diol. No metabolic conversion of mesterolone to estrogens or corticosteroids has been observed; excretion: mesterolone is virtually never excreted unchanged. Up to 80% of the dose is excreted as metabolites by the kidneys (55-70% in the conjugated form of 1α-methyl-androsterone) and about 13% in the faeces; up to 93% of the drug is excreted in one week, with half of this dose being excreted by the kidneys overnight. The T1/2 (terminal half-life) is 12-13 h.
